Editor
WYSIWYG Markdown with inline reveal, tabs and multi-document (Control+Tab cycles them), heading anchors, and a live document outline.
Vault
Point it at a folder — file tree, live file-watching, and every - [ ] task indexed across all your files with tags and dates.
Calendar and task inbox
Every - [ ] task in your vault on a calendar (⌘5), with a dot on every day that has something on it — and a tasks panel that switches between Inbox and Timeline.
Typewriter mode
The line you are writing stays in the middle of the window, so your eyes do not follow the cursor down the page.
Rescan Vault
View → Rescan Vault rebuilds the index on demand — a file that arrived while mdai was closed gets picked up without reopening the vault.
Slash commands
Type / in the editor and pick from the menu — /table inserts a Markdown table, /quote a blockquote, /date today's date. The list filters as you keep typing.
Find anything
Command palette (⌘K), quick file switcher (⌘P), and full-text search across your whole vault.
Linked notes
WikiLinks [[note]] with a backlinks panel, so you can see what points at the document you are reading. Type [[ and note names complete as you go; click a link and the note opens. If it does not exist yet, mdai offers to create it, in the folder you are writing from.
Unlinked mentions
A note also shows where its name appears in your prose without brackets — and each one can be turned into a real link with a single click, without touching the rest of the sentence.
Writing Mode
A focus view, a live outline of your H1–H3 headings with jump-to-section, typewriter scrolling, and long-form AI actions — a whole section or the whole document — through the same side-by-side diff you already approve. mdai reopens where you left off.
Tags across the vault
A panel lists every tag with a count, and clicking one takes you to the notes and the exact lines that use it. Tags are read both from your text and from the tags: field in front matter.
AI on your key
Bring your own key (Anthropic, Gemini, DeepSeek, OpenAI). Section-level diffs, undo checkpoints, and live token & usage display.
Export
PDF and HTML with proper print styling — your document on the page, without the app around it.
Light and dark
Both themes built in, your choice remembered, and your own custom CSS on top if you want it.
Focus mode
Dim everything except the paragraph you are writing — from the View menu or the command palette.
Private by design
No account, no telemetry, and no server that ever sees your writing. Keys live in your OS keychain, and your vault is just a folder — put it in iCloud Drive if you want it on more than one Mac (keep the folder downloaded, not online-only).
Four languages
English, Crnogorski, Deutsch, and Español — switchable inside the app.
Yours to keep
One-time price, a lifetime license with all future updates, and it works fully offline.

Your vault is a folder, so it already syncs through iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive or Syncthing — put it in one of those folders and it works today, with one condition: the folder has to be kept downloaded on your device (“Keep Downloaded” on macOS, “Always keep on this device” on Windows). Folders left as online-only placeholders are not supported yet — every file has to be fetched over the network before it can be opened, and a large vault can crawl.

Phase Two: native mobile
A first-class mdai app for iOS and Android — the same local-first vault and your plain .md files, in your pocket. It’s the big next chapter, and it’s coming. Tell us what matters most on mobile.

The order isn’t fixed. What people ask for is how we decide what ships next — and it’s all in the open: read what others have asked for before you write, because a 👍 on an existing request counts for more than a duplicate. Nothing new there? Open a new one.
